POMPANO BEACH – 4/9/2013 – Forty-five years ago, Dr. Mack R. Douglas, a minister from Margate gathered a few friends and proposed to develop a retirement community for seniors. The plan called for the construction of a group of cottages to be leased to a senior single or couple for the balance of their lives. The community was developed and opened in Pompano Beach in 1967.
From that beginning, John Knox Village has grown to its current 65-acre campus and is presently home to more than 900 residents with a staff of more than 600 employees. (Click here to read more)
